Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs, to which was referred Communication
No. 394, reports as follows:
Communication No. 394, transmitted by Managing Director William V. Brilhante, Jr., dated July 3, 2025, requests
the Council's review and confirmation of the nomination of Bambi Lau to the South Kohala Community
Development Plan Action Committee.
Executive Assistant to the Mayor Micah Alameda was present in the Kona Chambers to introduce
Ms. Lau, who was also present in the Kona Chambers, to the Committee.
Committee Member James Hustace asked Ms. Lau to share her priorities for the area and community. Ms. Lau said
homes are a priority for community members and bringing down the cost of living. She wants to see smart
development that maintains the integrity and history of the place.
Committee Member Dennis "Fresh" Onishi mentioned the importance of getting the Committee to work with the
Office of Housing and Community Development and encouraged her to ask Member Hustace to help with making
those connections.
Pursuant to Chapter 16, Article 3, Section 16-5(a) of the Hawaii County Code, members of the South Kohala
Community Development Plan Action Committee shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council.
Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs is in accord with the purpose and intent of
Communication No. 394, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Bambi Lau to the South Kohala
Community Development Plan Action Committee.
