Subject: Opposition to Bill 51 — Feral Cat Feeding
Aloha Council Members,
I'm writing to express my strong opposition to Bill 51, which seeks to criminalize feeding feral cats. I
believe this bill is both cruel and inhumane.
Across the island, numerous dedicated volunteers are working hard to trap, spay/neuter, and manage
the feral cat population. Instead of punishing compassionate individuals, we should be supporting
humane population control efforts. Letting these animals starve is not only inhumane —it also risks
worsening the problem, potentially causing suffering and continued harm to local wildlife, including
native bird species.
Please consider more compassionate and effective solutions that align with our island's values and long-
term sustainability.
Mahalo,
