REPORT OF THE <br />COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br />DATE: July 22, 2025 <br />PLACE: Council Chambers <br />Kailua-Kona, Hawaii <br />TIME: 9:04 a.m. <br />Council Chair and Members <br />Hawaii County Council <br />Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br />Re: Comm. No. 385/Res. No. 241-25 <br />Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 241-25, reports as follows: <br />Resolution No. 241-25, transmitted by Finance Director Diane Nakagawa via Communication <br />No. 385, dated July 3, 2025, accepts the donation of security camera systems to the County of Hawaii <br />Department of Parks of Recreation. <br />The donation of security camera systems from Blue Shield Security Hawaii, with an estimated value of <br />$4,500, would be installed at the Pana`ewa Park and Covered Play Courts in Pana`ewa Hawaii. <br />Recreation Director Alex Walker and District Supervisor Royden Chow were available in chambers for <br />questions. <br />Committee Member Dennis "Fresh" Onishi commented in support of this measure and also commented <br />on a vandalism incident at the Waiakea Uka Park facilities and inquired if his office could assist with the <br />purchase of a system for the park as well.
