Subject: WE NEED OUR COUNCIL PEOPLES HELP NOW!g

I AM OPPOSING BILL 51.
I am a TNRM for Honoka'a. I have trapped and assisted in the spay -and neuter of h'1 dre`ds of
cats in the last 8 years. This is the answer to the Island wide problem of feral cats and we
need your support to help us get this under control. Research shows that killing them doesn't
stop the problem. Starving them makes an unhealthy sick environment for surrounding homes
and businesses. Sterilizing them will stop the proliferation of new animals and the maintenance
of the colonies will keep them healthy until they die a natural death. Thanks to nonprofit's
help, Honoka'a has minimized the problem of the feral colonies and a few of us work very hard
to keep them fed and out of sight during the day. We feed at night and that is when they come
out, expecting food.

If we had county and state help we could maximize our tools to cover more ground in this
work. This last year, I sustained an injury that has kept me from doing elder care work. I have
no job and I am a volunteer in the work to keep our community at a minimum of feral cats and to
keep the environment healthy around the feral colonies. I supply the food, time and effort with
no support. It is time that our council take this situation to the table and help us to clean this
island up in a humane way!
Thank you for your help with this situation in advance.
Sincerely
Shira Hunt
