Subject: Oppose Bill 51
Aloha,
I'm writing to voice my testimony in opposition to Bill 51 which criminalizes feeding of cats on county
land. Rather than to take punitive measures against kind humans who care for these creatures, 1 entreat
the council to consider supporting these individuals. These same individuals could be key partners in a
well coordinated & humane strategy including increasingTNRM programs, cat sanctuary creation &
management, etc. It makes no sense to me to criminalize people who take time out of their busy lives to
care for the least among us, be they people, pets or pests. If anyone is having moral dilemmas about this
decision, consider asking a child to see how they respond to the notion of imposing penalties on
caregivers & instigating a slow kill of the cat population.
If this bill does end up passing, my daughter & I are going to spend our vacation dollars elsewhere. What
a shame this bill is even being considered.
Respectfully submitted,
