OPPOSE BILL 51
Hi,
I would like to address bill number 51. 1 am appalled that the answer to this or any situation with live
animals would be cruelty. If I were to starve my cats or dogs I would be turned in for animal cruelty.
We, as a nation have laws against starving animals, but you as a government entity see nothing
wrong with putting in a law that does just that. This is shameful. There are other answers to this
problem.
I volunteer for Petfix and see the cats that come in and get fixed. The cats from feeding stations are in
rough shape to say the least. How about funding for a larger Humane society that can take these cats
in and find homes, help with more clinics for spay and nurturing? Petfix fixed 5,000 animals last year,
but more funding and more clinics from the governing entity would be very helpful. If we don't get cats
fixed, they have more kittens and the problem continues.
As far as cats killing Nene's, no, I do not believe they kill Nene. In fact I have never seen Nene.in our
area where the feeding stations are. This is just a cruel solution that is easy and takes no thought to
the real problem. Letting anything starve to death because they are an inconvenience is despicable.
And fining folks who use their own money and time to help with this situation is also despicable.
