OPPOSE BILL 51 / That Bans Cat Feeding.
1 do not support Bill 51, as it's utterly inhumane, will create more problems, doesn't solve the issue of
homeless abandoned felines, and is against our local tradition ingrained in our spirit as islanders, to feed
all in need, whether a human or an animal.
Hui Pono Holoholona/ Pono Animal Way Sanctuary supports Trap -Neuter -Return -Maintain cat
colonies. It has been scientifically proven to be the primary solution for decreasing animal
overpopulation. Our community does not support round -up killings, as it creates more problems in
attempts to do so and is more costly to the taxpayer.
By far, cat feeders are compassionate individuals who give their time and expense in trapping, arranging
spay/neuter appointments, or providing medical assistance. Cats are scanned for microchips and
returned to their owners when possible. Friendly abandoned strays and/ kittens are posted on social
media to be rehomed or adopted.

Bill 51 is animal cruelty and in conflict with current animal cruelty laws Not our Aloha Island Way; it's
brutal starvation and directly works against the most effective spay/neuter programs that decrease
unwanted litter births.
People will continue to abandon animals at the County water and transfer stations; they are the
criminals, not the feeders. Having feeders is necessary to control these areas with the ongoing
sterilization programs.
Always with Aloha,
