Re: Bill 267 - An Ordinance Amending Chapter 24 of the Hawaii County Code
1983 (1995 Edition), Relating to Vehicles and Traffic, Authorizing
the Establishment of a Volunteer Disabled Parking Program
Dear Chairman Yagong,
The Disability and Communication Access Board supports Bill No. 267 which seeks to Amend
Chapter 24 of the Hawaii County Code 1983, Relating to Vehicles and Traffic, Authorizing the
Establishment of a Volunteer Disabled Parking Program.
This Volunteer Enforcement Program mirrors a similar program established and managed by the
Honolulu Police Department. There has been a significant improvement regarding the proper use
of accessible parking spaces in our Oahu community since the program became permanent in 1999.
The Board supports the establishment of a volunteer program for the County of Hawaii.
Thank you for the opportunity to provide comment on this issue. Should you have any questions
