Subject: BOPPOSE BILL 51 — CRIMINALIZATION of feeding the Community cats
CZ

I OPPOSE Bill 51 which will criminalize the feeding of community cats.
-:C-,
This is not a pono way to deal with the current situation. The volunteers an ffno
profit organizations currently are making a difference in controlling the cat -
population. #
The first issue that needs to be addressed is. the dumping of these animals on other
people's land. The owners don't want the animal or can no longer take care of
animal, so they dump their pet and litter elsewhere. These animals are not spayed
or neutered, and therefore continue to breed.
The volunteers and non -profits are controlling the population. And treating these
animals with human decency and compassion.
Don't criminalize the people who are taking steps to make the bad situation
better. They are managing the colonies of healthy, sterilized cats. It is a constant job
that people volunteer to do. We need to build upon what they are already doing.
Passing this bill will make the situation exponentially worse. You will then be
starting over trying to control the population. Don't contribute to animal cruelty by
depriving food and water to these unowned cats.
Make these animals lives better and find better way to control the population. Don't
penalize the people and non-profit organizations that are trying to do the same.
Together we can find an effective solution!!
Sincerely,
Heather Sousa
