Subject: Oppose Bill 51
To whom it may concern,
I am emailing today to oppose Bill51.
I agree that something needs to be done about the excessive feral animal population on our island.
However, disallowing the feeding of these populations will not help the problem. TNR programs and
colony feeders do all they can to minimize illness in these populations (thereby reducing those diseases
in domestic animal populations as well). In addition, well-fed populations are less likely to hunt our
native bird species. I understand that cats are predators and they do go after birds, but hungry predators
will hunt more.
Additionally, attempting to starve out any animals is, frankly, cruel. Again, I agree that something
desperately needs to be done about the feral and stray animal population on island, but I adamantly
oppose BIll51.
Mahalofor you consideration,
