Subject:
Regarding Bill 51 - NOT in favor of feeding ban for "feral" animals
To whom it may concern:
I do NOT agree with Bill 51 proposal of a feeding ban for "feral" animals on county properties. This proposal
will not be an effective solution to the problem at hand. "Animals" are extremely resourceful and resilient
creatures who will always find a way to survive, but losing control of the situation by banning the feeding of
'feral' animals will only cause more harm to the environment than good. Justifying the proposal with the
illogical assumption that they will move to other locations will inevitably result in the failure to procure the
desired results while also driving the situation into a worse position.
Additionally, the proposal feels very inhumane as it is the negligence of humans that created the situation to
begin with. If we are incapable of providing shelter and homes for all of the 'feral' animals, we can at least
establish protected feeding stations for them (to reduce the risk of animal cruelty attempts as well as to
.protect the local fauna from things they should not consume) to access in an effort to discourage unwanted
killings on protected species. Of course, this solution is also not perfect, but it is one that I personally feel is
better overall.
