COUNTY OF HAWAI`I <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 269 25 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO USA VOLLEYBALL, <br />INC., DBA MOKU O KEAWE, TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES FOR THE 2025 HAWAI`I <br />ISLAND LABOR DAY VOLLEYBALL CLASSIC. <br />WHEREAS, USA Volleyball Inc., DBA Moku O Keawe, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br />organization whose mission is to develop, standardize, and coordinate volleyball activities at the <br />local level, providing a competitive, safe, and healthy environment where athletes can improve <br />their skills; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports diverse recreation <br />programs while fostering cultural appreciation; and <br />WHEREAS, twenty-four teams will be competing at the 2025 Hawaii Island Labor Day <br />Volleyball Classic, which will be held from August 28-30, 2025, in Hilo; and <br />WHEREAS, USA Volleyball Inc., DBA Moku O Keawe, is requesting funds to cover <br />cultural entertainment expenses at the awards banquet for the 2025 Hawaii Island Labor Day <br />Volleyball Classic, which will serve a public purpose by benefiting, improving, or promoting the <br />interests of culture and the arts, as well as the needs of the poor, youth, the aged, and those with <br />physical or emotional disabilities; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that, in <br />accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as <br />amended), Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 are hereby transferred to the <br />Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to USA Volleyball Inc., DBA Moku O <br />Keawe, for the expenses and purposes identified in "Exhibit A," a copy of which is attached <br />hereto and incorporated herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below: <br />
