No. 409/Res. No. 251-25
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 251-25, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 251-25, transmitted by Finance Director Diane Nakagawa via Communication
No. 389, dated July 18, 2025, authorizes the payment of funds of later fiscal years to enter into a
multi -year lease agreement for real property to be used by the Hawaii Police Department.
This resolution authorizes the Mayor to enter into a five-year lease agreement with four options to
extend the lease for an additional five years with GEC Development Group, LLC., for space located at
28-2903 Hawaii Belt Road.
Police Major Jeremy Evangelista was present for questions and expressed his gratitude, highlighting the
importance of this satellite substation.
Committee Member Heather Kimball asked if an amendment to the resolution could be made to reflect
the lease values. Deputy Finance Director Malia Kekai replied that at the time of submitting the
resolution, they did not have those figures but since then, they have received them and will amend the
resolution to reflect that. --
Committee Member Dennis "Fresh" Onishi asked if the substation would have internet capabilities.
Mr. Evangelista replied that he was uncertain because the officers don't rely on the internet and
explained that most of their equipment is cellular -operated.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 251-25, and
recommends its adoption.
Ikh
AYES
NOES
ABS
EX
GALIMBA
X
HUSTACE
X
INABA
X
KAGIWADA
X
KANEALI`I-KLEINFELDER
X
KIERKIEWICZ
X
KIMBALL
X
ONISHI
X
VILLEGAS
X
Respectfully submitted,
COMMITTEE ON FINANCE
MATT NEALI`I- I EINFELDER,
CHAIR
FC REPORT NO.: 76
ADOPTED: AUG 2 0 2025
