Proposed Amendment to Bill No. 72; An Ordinance to Initiate an Amendment
to Article VI, Chapter 10, Section 6-10.3, of the Charter of the County of
Hawaii (2024 Edition), Relating to the Director of Environmental
Management.
Transmitted herewith is a proposed amendment to Bill No. 72. The amendment is shown below
in Ramseyer format with respect to the contents of Bill No. 72; material to be deleted is
bracketed and stricken, and material to be added is underscored.
SECTION 1 of Bill No. 72, which amends article VI, chapter 10, section 6-10.3, of the Charter
of the County of Hawaii (2024 Edition), is amended to read as follows:
"Section 6-10.3. Director.
The director of environmental management shall be appointed by the mayor,
confirmed by the council, and may be removed by the mayor. The director shall have
had a minimum of five years of [responsible administrative] experience in engineering,
solid waste management, wastewater treatment, environmental volicv and reaulatory
compliance, public administration, [pfivate] business[,] administration, or a related
[ems.] field, at least two years of which shall have been in a responsible administrative
ca aci ."
Due to the limited scope of this amendment, a copy of the new draft of this bill that would result
if it were adopted is not attached.
