HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 279 Draft 01 2024-2026COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAI`I RESOLUTION NO. 2719 25 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO PATH — PEOPLE FOR ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION HAWAPI TO PURCHASE AND MAINTAIN PET WASTE BAGS FOR THE OLD WALUA TRAIL. WHEREAS, PATH — People for Active Transportation Hawaii is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to connect people and places with pathways and bikeways on Hawaii Island; and WHEREAS, PATH is requesting funds to purchase and maintain pet waste bags for the Old Walua Trail, which will serve a public purpose by benefiting, improving, or promoting the interests of the public health and welfare of the people and the environment; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that, in accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 are hereby transferred to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to PATH for the expenses and purposes identified in "Exhibit A," a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below: FUND: General AMOUNT OF APPROPRIATION: $3,200 OUT AND FROM: 010.101.5101.91 Clerk -Council SVC — Contingency Relief $3,200 CREDITED TO: 010.500.5503.02 Department of Parks and Recreation $3,200 P&R Admin OCE 115 Misc. PATH will purchase compostable pet waste bags with the funds provided and with the help of volunteers that live along Walua Road, they will keep the pet waste bag receptacles stocked for the year. Providing the bags to the public helps to keep the path and roadway dear for walkers, runners, cyclists and residents. *52.501(c)(3) Mission Statement Champion and educate on safe, accessible, and active transportation opportunities in communities throughout Hawai1 Island. *33. After several years of planning and over 900 volunteer labor hours, PATH held the blessing of Old Walua Road Bike & Pedestrian Scenic Route in 1996. This was the first multi -use pathway on the island of Hawal' i and remains a very popular venue for walkers, runners, bicyclists and folks with baby strollers and dogs. PATH was Instrumental in the creation of this multi -use pathway along Walua Road. *54.
