COUNTY OF HAWAI`I <br />STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />RESOLUTION NO. 280 25 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WAIMEA <br />COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO THE 2025 WAIMEA <br />TWILIGHT CHRISTMAS PARADE. <br />WHEREAS, the Waimea Community Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br />whose mission includes supporting education, healthcare, and activities that foster a sense of <br />place, belonging, and community cohesion rooted in the diverse and unique culture of Waimea, <br />and lessening the burden on the County of Hawaii by providing community support to the <br />annual Waimea Twilight Christmas Parade; and <br />WHEREAS, the annual Waimea Twilight Christmas Parade is the second oldest parade <br />in the State of Hawaii, celebrating 65 years in North Hawaii by bringing the community <br />together as residents and visitors feel a sense of joy and share their appreciation during the <br />holiday season; and <br />WHEREAS, the Waimea Community Association is requesting funds to assist with the <br />cost of hiring special police officers, which will serve a public purpose by benefiting, improving, <br />or promoting the interests of culture and the arts, as well as the public health and welfare of the <br />people and the environment; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that, in <br />accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as <br />amended), Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 are hereby transferred to the <br />Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Waimea Community Association for the <br />expenses and purposes identified in "Exhibit A," a copy of which is attached hereto and <br />incorporated herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below: <br />
