A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WAIMEA COMMUNITY
ASSOCIATION FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO THE 2025 WAIMEA TWILIGHT CHRISTMAS PARADE.
WHEREAS, the Waimea Community Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission includes supporting education, healthcare, and activities that foster a sense of place,
belonging, and community cohesion rooted in the diverse and unique culture of Waimea, and lessening the burden on the County of Hawaiʻi by providing community support to the annual
Waimea Twilight Christmas Parade; and
WHEREAS, the annual Waimea Twilight Christmas Parade is the second oldest parade in the State of Hawaiʻi, celebrating 65 years in North Hawaiʻi by bringing the community together as
residents and visitors feel a sense of joy and share their appreciation during the holiday season; and
WHEREAS, the Waimea Community Association is requesting funds to assist with the cost of hiring special police officers, which will serve a public purpose by benefiting, improving,
or promoting the interests of culture and the arts, as well as the public health and welfare of the people and the environment; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that, in accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaiʻi County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), Contingency Relief
funds from Council District 9 are hereby transferred to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Waimea Community Association for the expenses and purposes identified
in “Exhibit A,” a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is hereby
authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
