HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 284 Draft 01 2024-2026A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS OF LATER FISCAL YEARS TO ENTER A MULTI-YEAR AGREEMENT FOR ETHERNET COMPUTER NETWORK SERVICES TO BE USED BY THE OFFICE OF THE PROSECUTING
ATTORNEY.
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the Charter of the County of Hawai‘i (hereinafter “the Charter”) provides, in part, that “any contract, lease or other obligation requiring the payment of funds
from the appropriations of a later fiscal year or of more than one fiscal year shall be made or approved by Resolution”; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney (hereinafter “the Office”) wishes to enter a three-year agreement for Ethernet computer network services; and
WHEREAS, this agreement will maintain the wide area network (WAN) that allows staff to access and connect to servers, printers, databases, and other critical services between the Office’s
four working locations in Hilo, Waimea, and Kona (one at the West Hawai‘i Civic Center and another at the Kona Judiciary Complex); and
WHEREAS, the Office estimates the annual cost of this agreement to be $12,300 for each of the four sites, for a total of $49,200 per year and $147,600 across the three-year term of the
agreement; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into a multi-year agreement for the purposes hereinabove described.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, in accordance with Section 10-11 of the Charter, sufficient funds be budgeted in later fiscal years to cover the anticipated obligations of the County under
the terms of the agreement.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Honorable Kelden B. A. Waltjen, Prosecuting Attorney of the County of Hawai‘i; and Diane
T. Nakagawa, Director of Finance.
