COUNTY OF HAWAI`I <br />STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />RESOLUTION NO. 291 25 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO `O KA`U KAKOU FOR <br />ITS 2025 VETERANS DAY CELEBRATION. <br />WHEREAS, `O Ka`u Kakou (OKK) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that sponsors <br />and supports community activities in the district of Ka`u that enhance the quality of life for keiki, <br />kupuna, and all residents of the Ka`u district; and <br />WHEREAS, OKK promotes civic engagement and brings awareness to the contributions <br />of United States military Veterans by providing a welcoming gathering space for the community, <br />and will host its free annual Veterans Day Celebration on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in <br />Nd'alehu to honor and recognize the service of all Veterans and their `ohana in the Ka`u district; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that <br />promote health, safety, and welfare of the community through alcohol -free events; and <br />WHEREAS, OKK is requesting funds to help defray the cost of sign and banner <br />printing, cost of local newspaper advertisements, and to purchase paper goods and food, which <br />will serve a public purpose benefiting, improving, or promoting the needs of the poor, youth, the <br />aged, those with physical or emotional disabilities, the public health and welfare of the people <br />and the environment, and victims of health or social crises; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that, in <br />accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as <br />amended), Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 are hereby transferred to the <br />Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to `O Ka`u Kakou for the expenses and <br />purposes identified in "Exhibit A," a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by <br />reference, in the following amount as set forth below: <br />
