COUNTY OF HAWAI`I STATE OF HAWAI`I RESOLUTION NO. 291 25 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO `O KA`U KAKOU FOR ITS 2025 VETERANS DAY CELEBRATION. WHEREAS, `O Ka`u Kakou (OKK) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that sponsors and supports community activities in the district of Ka`u that enhance the quality of life for keiki, kupuna, and all residents of the Ka`u district; and WHEREAS, OKK promotes civic engagement and brings awareness to the contributions of United States military Veterans by providing a welcoming gathering space for the community, and will host its free annual Veterans Day Celebration on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in Nd'alehu to honor and recognize the service of all Veterans and their `ohana in the Ka`u district; and WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that promote health, safety, and welfare of the community through alcohol -free events; and WHEREAS, OKK is requesting funds to help defray the cost of sign and banner printing, cost of local newspaper advertisements, and to purchase paper goods and food, which will serve a public purpose benefiting, improving, or promoting the needs of the poor, youth, the aged, those with physical or emotional disabilities, the public health and welfare of the people and the environment, and victims of health or social crises; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that, in accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 are hereby transferred to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to `O Ka`u Kakou for the expenses and purposes identified in "Exhibit A," a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below:
