This bill will allow more animal cruelty and allow people to starve and abandon animals and create loopholes for our already deeply flawed system regarding the unethical euthanasia of countless innocent animals. Animal control needs to have more accountability, not be given more power to have less. I don't believe cats are a threat to our Nene and native birds. First, native birds are not at county facilities, they live in the higher elevations of our native forests. secondly, why are dogs and other animals added to the list? A bigger threat to nene and birds would be the mongoose. I've seen them eat eggs and kill full grown chickens and other birds. Animals are regularly abandoned at county facilities and communities pull together to to help them. Animals that used to have family's and a home are regularly "dumped " by their families. I personally have rescued many and have found them homes through the many struggling rescue organizations, countrary from the dialog being hammered into the minds of many people, these rescues are doing their best and helping with rehabilitation, vet fees, spay and neuter programs, finding fosters and rehoming . Why can't county and state funding go towards a positive solution ? There are so many regular folks that try to help. This seems like such a third world approach and screams bad politics. The biggest threat to all native species are the mongoose and over development. Over development is creating rampant bulldozing at an alarming rate over vast areas of our native forests. That is why our native birds are disappearing, no forest, no birds. Why create more death and cruelty in this world when there are others way to approach this. This is heartbreaking, I have 6 animals at home, 2 dogs where crippled from being beaten and abused and turned out to be the sweetest and most dear friends and a wonderful addition to our family. We also have 2 cats that were kept in small cages, they are also the sweetest family members. These animals are sentient creatures, just look into the eyes of a desperate animal that has been given a second chance, I guarantee they will make your heart melt.
