Dear Members of the Council of the County of Hawaii:

It is absolutely appalling that Bill 51, making it unlawful to feed free -roaming cats on
'—
public lands, is -garnishing support from the majority of Council members.

There seems to be no consideration for exempting feeding, through the program of
oP
trap/neuter/return and maintain (TNRM), of sterilized cats in managed colonies. It is
unthinkable to envision, as well as incredibly cruel, to starve cats waiting for their daily
___'
meal.
The Big Island of Hawaii will be joining third world nations that lack compassion for
animals.
How are you going to solve the issue of cat overpopulation, mass extermination?
This is totally disrespectful to the thousands of volunteers dedicating thousands of hours,
not to mention hundreds of thousands of dollars to reduce and control the number of
community cats.
I and my family have spent decades living on and/or visiting the Big Island. Should this bill
with inhumane consequences pass, I plan to never again set foot on the Big Island and will
encourage all of my friends and acquaintances to do the same. No one wants to visit and
be supportive of an island with this lack of compassion and ugliness.
I oppose Bill51.
