Re: Nomination of Steve A. Morifuji of Council District 1 to the Liquor Commission.
Aloha Council Chair Inaba and Council Members,
I am pleased to nominate Mr. Steve A. Morifuji to the Liquor Commission representing Council
District 1. Born and raised on Hawaii Island, Mr. Morifuji's deep connection and understanding
of the area make him an excellent candidate.
A proud 1972 graduate of Honoka`a High School, Steve earned a Bachelor of Science in
Horticulture from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1977. His diverse professional
experience includes significant roles in small business, corporate, and government sectors.
Notably, he served as the Administrative Officer for Licensing and Enforcement for the
Department of Liquor Control from the mid-2000s until his retirement in 2016.
Additionally, Mr. Morifuji has been an active member of our community, serving in the Hamakua
Lions Club for over 35 years, showcasing his commitment to service. Mr. Morifuji would be a
great asset to the Liquor Commission, bringing expertise and a genuine dedication to our island
community.
If confirmed, Mr. Morifuji will serve a term to end on December 31, 2029. If you have any
