Your Committee on Legislative Approvals and Acquisitions, to which was referred Resolution
No. 287-25, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 287-25, transmitted by Deputy Corporation Counsel Sinclair Salas-Ferguson, via
Communication No. 460, dated August 13, 2025, accepts the dedication of a roadway lot identified
as Tax Map Key: 2-4-080:044, situated at Waiakea, South Hilo, Island, County, and State of
Hawaii, from Mailani Development, LLC.
The landowner seeks to dedicate the roadway and all improvements for public roadway purposes.
Committee Chair Heather L. Kimball noted that although no one was present to represent the
landowner nor the County, assurance of their presence at the next meeting will be secured, and added
the measure is self-explanatory.
Committee Member Holeka Goro Inaba noted that since this dedication opportunity was initiated with
the previous administration, with some overlap with the current administration, it may be desirous for
the departments to re -review the measure.
Committee Member James E. Hustace indicated that he had a question for the Department of Public
Works relating to connectivity of this roadway that could be answered at the Council Meeting.
Your Committee on Legislative Approvals and Acquisitions is in accord with the purpose and intent of
Resolution No. 287-25, and recommends its adoption.
