No. 462 <br />Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs, to which was referred <br />Communication No. 462, reports as follows: <br />Communication No. 462, transmitted by Managing Director William V. Brilhante, Jr., dated <br />August 1, 2025, requests the Council's review and confirmation of the nomination of Maci L. Wilson <br />to the Board of Appeals. <br />Executive Assistant to the Mayor Micah Alameda was present in the Hilo Chambers to introduce <br />Ms. Wilson, who was also present in the Hilo Chambers. <br />Committee Member Ashley L. Kierkiewicz asked Ms. Wilson to elaborate on the reason she decided <br />to apply for the Board of Appeals. Ms. Wilson responded by saying, after looking at the boards to see <br />where there was a need, she felt like she could make the biggest impact on the Board of Appeals. <br />Ms. Kierkiewicz then asked about Ms. Wilson's familiarity with the process of zoning and <br />permitting. Ms. Wilson responded by saying, she will continue to gain knowledge about zoning and <br />permitting. She plans to read bylaws and communicate with the community to make the best <br />decisions possible. <br />Pursuant to Article VI, Chapter 9, Section 6-9.2 of the Hawaii County Charter, members of the <br />Board of Appeals shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council. <br />GOEAC Report No. 65 <br />
