The County's Department of <br />Human Resources receives numerous workers' compensation claims, and the Office of <br />the Corporation Counsel does not have the expertise and personnel to provide the <br />same level of legal services rendered by Special Counsel. <br />The County is in the process of the evaluation and selection of Special Counsel <br />for workers' compensation cases via professional services procurement and needs <br />additional time to complete this process. <br />We request this Resolution be placed on the Council agenda for the September <br />17, 2025 meeting. <br />Should you have any questions, please feel to contact me at 961-8251 or by <br />email at I.yoshimotoCa)-a) <br />Sincerely, <br />J S.
