HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 309 Draft 01 2024-2026 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII FARMERS UNION FOUNDATION FOR ITS 2025 STATE ANNUAL CONVENTION. WHEREAS, Hawaii Farmers Union Foundation (HFUF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that advocates for the sovereign rights of family farmers, ranchers, and fishers to create regenerative and sustainable agricultural communities that benefit the people of Hawaiʻi through education, cooperation, and legislation; and WHEREAS, HFUF has chosen “Mahiʻai Makahiki” as this year’s theme and will honor the vital roles that farmers and food producers play in sustaining communities as they bring together mahiʻai from across pae ʻāina and host the Hawaii Farmers Union Foundation’s State Convention on October 25-26, 2025, at Kahaluʻu Ma Kai in Keauhou, Kona; and WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports sustainable agriculture practices by promoting educational opportunities designed to build skills and capacity through farming while also helping to strengthen communities, the economy, and the environment; and WHEREAS, HFUF is requesting funds to help defray the cost of food, audio visual equipment rental, and technical support, which will serve a public purpose benefiting, improving, or promoting culture and the arts, educational concerns, and the public health and welfare of the people and the environment; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that, in accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaiʻi County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 are hereby transferred to the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to Hawaii Farmers Union Foundation for the expenses and purposes identified in “Exhibit A,” a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below: FUND: General       AMOUNT OF APPROPRIATION:  $5,000       OUT AND FROM:    1010-11-10191 Clerk-Council SVC – Contingency Relief $5,000      CREDITED TO:    1010-11-16122 Department of Research and Development $5,000   Agriculture R&D OCE    530115 Misc.
