A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE ARC OF KONA
FOR ITS KONA KRAFTS GROUP HOME MAINTENANCE PROJECT.
WHEREAS, The Arc of Kona is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide services to people with disabilities that encourages personal growth and quality of life through
empowerment and choice; and
WHEREAS, The Arc of Kona operates and manages the last domiciliary home in Hawaiʻi County, the Kona Krafts Group Home, and provides residential assistance to individuals with developmental
and intellectual disabilities while also encouraging independent living skills; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports a high quality of life for Hawaiʻi Island residents through projects that help to balance the island’s economic, social,
and environmental well-being; and
WHEREAS, The Arc of Kona is requesting funds to help defray the cost of interior paint, materials, and labor to complete its Kona Krafts Group Home maintenance project, which will help
ensure a healthy living environment and serve a public purpose by meeting the needs of the poor, youth, the aged, and those with physical or emotional disabilities; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that, in accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaiʻi County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), Contingency Relief
funds from Council District 6 are hereby transferred to the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to The Arc of Kona for the expenses and purposes identified in
“Exhibit A,” a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below:
