WHEREAS, Sustainable Energy Hawaii is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to enable an economic, social, and environmental revival in Hawaii through a just transition to 100% clean, locally sourced, renewable energy; and WHEREAS, Sustainable Energy Hawaii is requesting funds for the facility rental expenses, which will serve a public purpose by benefiting, improving, or promoting educational concerns within our County; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that, in accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 are hereby transferred to the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to Sustainable Energy Hawaii for the expenses and purposes identified in "Exhibit A," a copy of which is attached hereto and. incorporated herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below: FUND: General AMOUNT OF APPROPRIATION: $2,000 OUT AND FROM: 1010-11-10191 Clerk -Council SVC — Contingency Relief CREDITED TO: 1010-11-16319 Department of Research and Development Energy — R&D 530115 Misc. The He Ala Pono Electric Vehicle and Sustainability Fair is an annual event that celebrates clean transportation, sustainable energy, and resilience on Hawaii Island. Held in conjunction with National Drive Electric Month, a nationwide celebration that raises awareness of the many benefits of all -electric and plug-in hybrid cars, trucks, motorcycles, and other electric vehicles, this event will take place at Prince Kuhi6 Plaza on September 27, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The fair is free and open to the public, offering a great opportunity to learn how to contribute to a more sustainable future. It will feature up to 18 organizations providing information about their programs and initiatives, with activities designed to engage both youth and adults. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about topics such as energy, transportation (including electric vehicles), agriculture, food security, disaster preparedness, green homes, and green infrastructure loans. Electric vehicle owners will also be invited to share their experiences and stories, providing the public with firsthand insights into the benefits of electric vehicles and sustainable practices. * 53.501(c)(3) Mission Statement Enable an economic, social, and overall environmental revival for Hawaii through a just transition to 100% clean, locally sourced, renewable energy. * 54. In addition to applying for this grant, Sustainable Energy Hawaii is assisting with marketing and organizing the event.
