Home My WebLink AboutRES 333 Draft 01 2024-2026COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAI`I RESOLUTION NO. 333 25 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE BIG ISLAND RESOURCE CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL FOR THE 2025 WHEREAS, the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council (BIRCDC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to assist the people of Hawaii Island in achieving sustainable development while caring for and appreciating the natural environment, ensuring broadened economic opportunities, enriched communities, and better lives; and WHEREAS, BIRCDC is requesting funds for breakfast for volunteers, decorations, office supplies, tableware, food storage, sanitation, keiki activities, and honoraria for performers and exhibitors, which will serve a public purpose by benefiting, improving, or promoting the interests of the culture and the arts; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that, in accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 are hereby transferred to the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council for the expenses and purposes identified in "Exhibit A," a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below: FUND: General AMOUNT OF APPROPRIATION: $2,500 OUT AND FROM: 1010-11-10191 Clerk -Council SVC — Contingency Relief $2,500 CREDITED TO: 1010-11-16318 Department of Research and Development $2,500 Big Island Film Office — R&D 530115 Misc. The Hawaii Association of Filipino Educator's in collaboration with the Bayanihan Club of the University of Hawaii (UH) at Hilo, Samahang Club of Hawaii Community College, and Hawari Island organizations, present the Hilo Barrio Fiesta at UH Hilo's Campus Center Plaza on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. The Hilo Barrio Fiesta is a community celebration commemorating October's Filipino American History Month (FARM). This year's theme, "Palakasin ang Bayanihang Pilipino," or Strengthening the Filipino Bayanihan Spirit, celebrates Bayanihan, a core Filipino value that embodies the spirit of unity and cooperation among Filipinos. The event will feature Filipino food trucks, cultural performances, family -friendly children's games, a martial arts demonstration, an art exhibit, a karaoke contest, and activities that promote Filipino history in Hawaii. In 2009, Congress declared October as Filipino American History Month (FARM), commemorating the first recorded presence of Filipinos in the continental United States, which occurred on October 18, 1587. Filipinos are the second largest ethnic group in Hawaii and the last immigrant group to be brought to Hawari as plantation laborers, also known as sakadas. * 53. 5O1(c)(3) Mission Statement To assist the people of the Big Island in achieving sustainable development while caring for and appreciating their natural environment; to ensure broadened economic opportunities, enriched communities, and better lives. * 54.
