A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE FOOD BASKET
INC. FOR ITS KŌKUA HARVEST FRUIT STANDS PROJECT IN COUNCIL DISTRICT 6.
WHEREAS, The Food Basket Inc. (TFB) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is simply to end hunger in Hawaiʻi County, and seeks to support this mission through its Kōkua
Harvest Program; and
WHEREAS, the Kōkua Harvest Program plans to implement, manage, and maintain at least three fruit stands in Council District 6, a project that aims to increase access to fresh, locally
sourced produce, support community connection and resilience, and provide healthier, free food options for residents; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports collaboration, innovation, resource development, and programmatic sustainability throughout the food system; and
WHEREAS, TFB is requesting funds to help defray the cost of building materials, supplies and labor for fruit stands, signs, gas mileage for produce delivery, and text notification services
for the participants of the Kōkua Harvest Fruit Stands Project in Council District 6 which will serve a public purpose benefiting, improving, or promoting educational concerns, the
needs of the poor, the aged, those with physical or emotional disabilities, and the public health and welfare of the people and the environment; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that, in accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaiʻi County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), Contingency Relief
funds from Council District 6 are hereby transferred to the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to The Food Basket Inc. for the expenses and purposes identified
in “Exhibit A,” a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
