Re: Substance Abuse Prevention Coordination grant additional funds

Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance to amend Ordinance No. 25-45 to increase the
appropriation and estimated revenues by $50,000.
The Substance Abuse Prevention Coordination grant has been used by the Office of the
Prosecuting Attorney for many years to assist with building capacity in substance abuse
prevention in Hawai'i County. This includes educational opportunities, hosting trainings,
prevention promotion, paying for staff to attend annual conferences, etc. In January
2025 this Substance Abuse Prevention Coordination grant lost $84,931.80 in Federal
funding. The State of Hawaii, Department of Health is providing State Funds to offset
the loss of Federal funds in the amount of $50,000.
