I totally oppose of this Bill 51 in removing the feral cats from there colonies in various locations here in Kona and island wide. I feel it's not humane to not care and feed these cats. Some individuals I can mention and known for many years Mary Reynolds and Ina Barnett has put there heart and souls caring for the animals for many years, rather it rains or shines. I know there's many others that also volunteer there time as well, but for these two ladies I've became close with through out the years. Please I ask that you give them a chance to continue care for these cats. There's cats at Old A's park that's been there for years and given names we all look forward to seeing them daily. there also healthy cats it's just there feral., there has been attempts to find homes for them. If I could I would house 1 or 2 of them, but it's limited to the amount of animals I can have where I live. There's many cats that can be petted, we have grown to love them. Reason we do bond with them, for me it's just a humanely to show them that I care. Which many individuals could care less. Many of us has seen individuals dumping cats there at the park. And who cares for them, the ladies that's caretaking them daily. I know Ina Barnett takes kittens in gets them healthy and finds them homes. On many occasions sends them to the mainland . She's also tried her best to get some older cats that's not felling, back to good health. They also have a trap, spay/neuter clinics and after that's done they take the cats back to the colony. Since they've been doing that the cat populations has gone down. There's many park users that has taken cats home to care for and now there our pets. Please give them a chance and work it out. I don't know what you've planned for the cats if removed, it's definitely not in my hands. Hope you all consider the caretakers side to continue care for the cats. If this bill is passed(which I hope it's not) please take care of this matter in a humane way and place these cats in a safe place where they will be cared for and treated humanely.
