RE: Attached Bills Relating To Con acts Of Interest An Limits On
Financial Interests By the Mayor and County Council Members
And Their Immediate Families
Please file Bill 184, which was deferred because it embraced two subject matters.
In lieu of Bill 184, I am submitting the following two bills for consideration.
These bills propose to create new sections in Chapter 2 of the Hawaii County
Code. The first bill limits council member action on measures that concern
individuals and businesses that contributed $100 or more to the campaign fund of
the voting member. The second bill would make it illegal for certain elected
officials and their immediate families to have $1,000 or more in business interests
in a company doing any business with the County.
