CLUB OF KONA, INC., TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES FOR ITS CLEAN AND SOBER COMMUNITY SUPPORT PROGRAM IN NORTH KONA.
WHEREAS, The 12 Step Ohana Club of Kona, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to be a place of aloha, connection, and recovery where everyone in our recovery
ohana is safe and welcome; and
WHEREAS, The 12 Step Ohana Club of Kona, Inc., is requesting funds to assist with refreshments, including food and beverages for recovery meetings and sober events, ensuring that those
in early recovery who cannot easily afford them are still able to engage fully, and to purchase recovery literature, such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, and Twelve Steps
and Twelve Traditions, with free copies available for individuals who are unable to afford them, which will serve a public purpose by benefiting, improving, or promoting the interests
of culture and the arts, needs of the poor, youth, the aged, those with physical or emotional disabilities, public health and welfare of the people and the environment, and victims
of health or social crises; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that, in accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaiʻi County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), Contingency Relief
funds from Council District 8 are hereby transferred to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to The 12 Step Ohana Club of Kona, Inc., for the expenses and purposes identified
in “Exhibit A,” a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below:
