FOUNDATION TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATING TO THE 2025 DOWNTOWN HILO CHRISTMAS LIGHTS PARADE.
WHEREAS, the Big Island Lions Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization comprised of four East Hawai‘i Lions Clubs (Hilo, Waiākea, Hilo Crescent City, and Akaka Falls Lions Clubs)
whose mission is to strengthen and improve the health and well-being of our communities, support those in need through humanitarian services and grants that impact lives globally, and
encourage peace and international understanding; and
WHEREAS, Big Island Lions Foundation is requesting funds for expenses related to the 2025 Downtown Hilo Christmas Lights Parade for security and traffic services provided by off-duty
police officers, which will serve a public purpose by benefiting, improving, or promoting the interests of culture and the arts; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that, in accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaiʻi County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), Contingency Relief
funds from Council District 2 are hereby transferred to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Big Island Lions Foundation for the expenses and purposes identified
in “Exhibit A,” a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below:
