SUBJECT: Proposed Amendment to Bill No. 52, Draft 2; an Ordinance Amending
Chapter 25, Articles 1, 4, and 5, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016
Edition, as Amended), Relating to Henneries.
Transmitted herewith is a proposed amendment to Bill No. 52, Draft 2. The proposed amendment
is shown below in Ramseyer format with respect to the contents of Bill No. 52, Draft 2; material
to be deleted is bracketed and stricken, and material to be inserted is underscored.
SECTION 2 of Bill No. 52, Draft 2, which amends chapter 25, article 4, division 1, of the
Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended) by adding a new section, is amended by
amending paragraph (1) to read as follows:
"(1) Hens must be confined to a coop, cage, hutch, hen house, or fully enclosed area[ —,Of
oth.;,seeured sp e] at all times:
(A) No closer than twenty feet from any residential district other than RA; and
(B) Complying with the yard requirements of the zoning district;"
Due to the limited scope of this proposed amendment, a copy of the new draft of this bill that
would result if the amendment was adopted is not attached.
