A RESOLUTION CREATING ONE HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST II POSITION
FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES.
WHEREAS, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Charter of the County of Hawaii (hereinafter "the
Charter") provides, in part, that the Mayor has the power to "[c]reate positions... for which
appropriations have been made by the council..."; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Human Resources is in need of one new Human
Resources Specialist II position in the Department's Classification and Pay Division; and
WHEREAS, this position will provide additional support to critical departmental and
County -wide operations, including maintaining the County's position classification plan;
researching information to support the Salary Commission; updating, routing, and amending the
Salary Ordinance; gathering and submitting data for salary surveys; reviewing organizational
charts, employment contracts, classification packets, classification actions, classification
maintenance, and position descriptions; providing assistance and guidance to departmental
Human Resources (hereinafter "HR") representatives; corresponding with the various public
sector unions; training new departmental HR representatives; responding to requests for
information from other jurisdictions; creating new classes of work; and working on other special
projects; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that,
pursuant to Section 5-1.3 of the Charter, one Human Resources Specialist II position be created
for the Department of Human Resources.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to William V. Brilhante, Jr., Managing Director; Diane T. Nakagawa, Director of
Finance; and Sommer J. Tokihiro, Director of Human Resources.
