As part of the Hawaii Island Film Festival, the Palace Theater will screen A Paradise Lost, a film about Native Manu. Students will have the opportunity to meet the filmmakers and engage with the local film industry. Two large school buses will provide round-trip transportation for approximately 100 students and their teachers from Pahoa to Hilo. Lunch —comprising 25 pizzas and 100 bottled waters —will be provided at Wailoa Park, where students will have the opportunity to discuss and reflect on the film together. This project offers a hands-on, culturally relevant educational experience that enhances understanding of Native heritage, supports arts and environmental education, and provides equitable access to opportunities that many Puna youth might not otherwise experience due to socioeconomic constraints. *50. 5O1(c)(3) Mission Statement Malama 0 Puna is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit, volunteer service organization whose mission is to protect community resources to maintain a safe and healthy community through its environmental education, hands-on projects, and advocacy. * 51.
