Aloha Councilmembers,
I am writing in strong support of the County's proposed plan for our island's future. This plan represents
nearly a decade of carefulwork, rooted in sound science, community values, and respect for Native
Hawaiian knowledge. It is a forward -looking framework that acknowledges the reality we face: climate
change is not speculation, but a well -documented scientific fact already reshaping our shorelines,
rainfall, reefs, and communities.
To ignore these changes would be shortsighted and costly. Rising seas, stronger storms, and shifting
weather patterns threaten the safety, economy, and cultural legacy of our island. Proactive planning is
not "political" —it is responsible governance. By integrating resilience and sustainability into our land
use, infrastructure, and resource management decisions, we can safeguard both our people and our
environment for generations to come.
This plan reflects a commitment to stewardship that honors Native Hawaiian perspectives and
embraces the best available climate science. It is the kind of leadership our island deserves: thoughtful,
inclusive, and prepared for the future. I urge you to approve it.
