Hawaii County Building 'nr 25 Aupuni Street xa == r— T Hilo, HI 96720 10 Dear Chair, Vice -Chair and Members: Bill 66 (Draft 2) Hawaii County General Plan 2045 Thank you for this opportunity to submit testimony relating to the Hawai' i County General Plan 2045. Kudos to the Hawaii County Council, staff and our community for the hard work in completing a vital document to secure a future for our island that considers biocultural stewardship, climate change for island wide health, sustainable and resilient communities and a thriving, diverse and regenerative economy. I urge the council to affirm belief in climate science and the need for proactive planning for our beautiful and special county when voting for the Hawaii County General Plan 2045. As a resident of Hawaii county since the 1980's I know I am not alone in recognizing the cultural, biological, and economic challenges our county faces. It is particularly in current times when misinformation and disinformation abound that we need to be strong in our determination to think of the future of all residents especially our keiki and mo' opuna when making these decisions. I also support the position as outlined by Terry McDonald in his testimony. Thank you for reading this testimony and considering your vote on Bill 66. Sincerely, Kathy Hammes 'Zef. o o6 ref.
