Your Committee on Legislative Approvals and Acquisitions, to which was referred Resolution
No. 370-25, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 370-25, transmitted by Deputy Corporation Counsel Sinclair Salas-Ferguson, via
Communication No. 577, dated October 3, 2025, authorizes and directs the disposition and
conveyance of a road remnant, being a portion of Tax Map Key: 2-2-037:999, situated at Waidkea,
South Hilo, Island, County, and State of Hawaii.
The County seeks to dispose of the remnant and convey it to the State, thereby alleviating the
County of any liability or maintenance responsibility.
Deputy Corporation Counsel Sinclair Salas-Ferguson, and Public Works Engineering Division Deputy
Chief Melanie DeMello, P.E., and Consultant Roy Takemoto, were present in chambers. Ms. DeMello
shared the intent is to convey a portion of Leilani Street which is not being used as a physical County
right-of-way, to the State, thereby releasing any liability or maintenance responsibility.
Your Committee on Legislative Approvals and Acquisitions is in accord with the purpose and intent of
Resolution No. 370-25, and recommends its adoption.
