DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION FOR RESURFACING
WORK AT LINCOLN PARK TENNIS COURTS
The donation from the United States Tennis Association has an estimated value
of $145,463.

Res. 397-25: AUTHORIZES THE OFFICE OF HOUSING AND COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT TO AWARD GRANTS FOR PROGRAMS ADDRESSING
HOUSING AND HOMELESSNESS
Proposes 12 grant awards to 8 different nonprofit organizations for a total of
$6,000,000 in funding derived from Residential Tier Two property tax revenues,
pursuant to Section 19-90(f) of the Hawaiʻi County Code.

A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A DONATION OF PROFESSIONAL SERVICES TO
THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION FOR RESURFACING WORK
AT LINCOLN PARK TENNIS COURTS.
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Charter of the County of Hawaii
(hereinafter "the Charter") provides that the Council, "on behalf of the county, may accept gifts
of donations of money, securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in
real estate"; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a), of the Hawaii County Code 1983
(2016 Edition, as amended) (hereinafter "the Code") provides, in part, that "gifts or donations of
money, securities, or personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the
department of finance may be accepted by resolution approved by the council"; and
WHEREAS, United States Tennis Association (hereinafter "USTA"), a not -for -profit
entity, donated professional services, including time and work, with an in -kind value of $145,463
for the resurfacing of the tennis courts at Lincoln Park; and
WHEREAS, this generous donation benefits the community through the improvement of
the County's recreational facilities, thereby encouraging physical activity and promoting public
health and welfare; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is grateful for this donation and
recommends its acceptance by the Council; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that,
pursuant to Section 13-12 of the Charter and Section 2-162 of the Code, the donation from
USTA hereinabove described is hereby accepted.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to William V. Brilhante, Jr., Managing Director; and Clayton S. Homna, Parks and
Recreation Director.
