Proposed Amendment to Bill No. 52, Draft 3; AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING CHAPTER 25; ARTICLES 1, 4, AND 5, OF THE
HAWAI`I COUNTY CODE 1983 (2016 EDITION, AS AMENDED),
RELATING TO HENNERIES.
Transmitted herewith is a proposed amendment to Bill No. 52, Draft 3. The proposed amendment
is shown below in Ramseyer format with respect to the contents of Bill No. 52, Draft 3; material
to be inserted is underscored.
SECTION 2 of Bill No. 52, Draft 3, which amends chapter 25, article 4, division 1, of the
Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended) by adding a section, is amended by
amending paragraph (1) to read as follows:
"(1) [Hens] Except as otherwise approved by the director, hens must be confined to a
coop, cage, hutch, hen house, or fully enclosed area at all times:
(A) No closer than twenty feet from any residential district other than RA; and
(B) Complying with the yard requirements of the zoning district;"
Due to the limited scope of this proposed amendment, a copy of the new draft of this bill that
would result if the amendment was adopted is not attached.
