These activities also raise serious concerns about toxic contamination that put public health, water, and the environment at risk. The Hawai'i Supreme Court has affirmed that the State has a constitutional duty to malama'aina (care for the land) and protect trust lands like P6hakuloa. Ongoing military use, however, violates these responsibilities. Because P6hakuloa is in a conservation district, its continued use for bombing and training is fundamentally incompatible with conservation, cultural preservation, and community well-being. In short: Supporting Resolution 234-25 aligns with protecting cultural heritage, safeguarding public health, fulfillingthe State's legal obligations, and ensuring the long-term preservation of Hawai'i's unique ecosystems. Please support this resolution to protectthe land, water, and people of Hawai'i.
