Aloha kakou. My name is Konakaimehela'i Kealoha my'ohana come from K6hala, I am a student
currently in the 12th grade at Halau Ku Mana Public Charter School on the island of O'ahu.*m ih
strong opposition of the renewal of this lease.
These lands hold deep cultural, historical, and spiritual significance to my family and I. Yet for
decades, they have been used for live -fire training, leaving behind dangerous debris and pollution.
Pohakuloa has been damaged —physically and spiritually —through actions that show a disregard for
the'aina and for our people.
These are not empty lands —they are home to stories, kupuna, and ecosystems that cannot be
replaced. No lease extension or dollar amount can undo the harm orjustify more destruction.
you have not acknowledged the full impact of military occupation —on our land, our health, or our
culture. It ignores the long-term trauma caused by militarization and the lack of trust in an institution
that has repeatedly failed to care for these lands responsibly.
As an opio it is time to say enough. Like the return of Kaho'olawe, we must now stand together and
demand the return of these lands to the people of Hawai'i. The leases should not be renewed. The
'aina should be restored. And future generations deserve to inherit land that is thriving, not one still
bearing the scars of occupation.
In conclusion I respectfully urge the Board of Land and Natural Resources and Governor Green to
reject the FEIS and end all negotiations regarding military lease renewals. Let us move forward with
aloha'aina, with pono, and with true accountability.
