Subject: Resolution 234 25
Hello Chair Villegas and members of the Policy Committee on Environmental and Natural Resource
Management
Thank you for the opportunity to voice my support of resolution 234-25, which would ensure the health of the
islands, their residents, and their ecologies by ending military bombing and ecologically dangerous activities at
the PTA.
The current environmental impact statements from the PTA are incomplete and do not consider endangered
species data, cultural impacts, and the damage that has been sustained to the islands over the years. Myself
and the other people of the United States, believe that a more comprehensive assessment is necessary to
ensure the safety and protection of the islands and their residents.
This resolution is not meant to disregard the Army's work in disaster response or first responder training. The
safety and well-being of the Hawaiian people in a time of increased storms and natural disasters is incredibly
important, but this safety cannot be achieved if they and their land are not safeguarded from the impacts of the
current military testing.
By approving this resolution you will send the message that your priority is the concerns and well-being of the
people you are asked to represent. Their environment, their culture, and their communities should guide you in
your decision.
Comm. 1
