Council Testimony
Subject:
Support Resolution 234-25
Aloha Members of our Hawai'i County Council,
I strongly support Resolution 234-25.
US Military training at Pohakuloa has already caused significant harm to the air, land, and water,
ranging from concerns about depleted uranium left in the soil to the threats to endangered species
and to a major aquifer beneath the area. The state Board of Land and Natural Resources recently
voted to reject the Army's environmental impact statements due to numerous flaws and inadequacies,
which raises further concerns about the Military's ability to properly care for the land.
Pohakuloa is a sacred and culturally significant area, and our land, native flora and fauna, air, and
water must be protected, as well as the people of Hawai'i. The live fire and bombing must stop.
Please support this resolution, and end the military use of Pahakulo
Mahalo,
