I'm writing to express my support for Resolution 234-25, and further to offer deep thanks for v

Councilmember Villegas and Dr. Inaba for their important work and support for this measure.
I know you are all very busy, and so briefly I would like to write that as a resident of the state concerns
with military land usage are always present. As you know, -the military tends to operate as if it were
unaccountable, and with much disregard for our shared'aina. The legal background to these issues is no
doubtwell known to each of you, and the general irresponsibility of the base operations must be as well.
For instance, on O'ahu, where 1 live, we are still dealingwith fallout from the Red Hill water
contamination and related damages of some years back. These problems are solved neither lightly nor
easily, and prevention - preferably through not leasing/not extending a lease - is clearly the best solution
for the people at large.
Please consider all sides to the resolution as you make this weighty decision, something that will affect
every one of the islands' residents for years to come.
