CALL TO The regular meeting of the Committee on Governmental Operations and
ORDER: External Affairs was called to order at 9:02 a.m., in the Council Chambers,
Kailua-Kona, by Mr. James E. Hustace, Acting Chair.
ROLL CALL:

COMMUNI- The Acting Chair directed the Committee to proceed to the next order of business,
CATIONS: Communications.
Comm. 616: NOMINATION OF MAILE K. LAVEA-MALLOE TO THE HAMAKUA
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN (CDP) ACTION COMMITTEE
From Mayor C. Kimo Alameda, dated October 30, 2025, requesting the
Council's review and confirmation.
Requires Council
Confirmation by: December 13, 2025 (Section 134(k),
Hawaii County Charter)
ACTING CHR. HUSTACE: If we could go to Mr. Alameda to introduce the
candidate for the Hamakua CDP Action Committee.
(Note: At this time, Executive Assistant to the Mayor Micah Alameda
and the nominee came forward to address the members of the
Committee.)
Vote on Comm. 616: Mr. Onishi moved to recommend confirmation of the nomination
(Approved) of Ms. Maile K. Lavea-Malloe to the Hamakua Community
Development Plan Action Committee. Seconded by Mr. Inaba
and carried by the following voice vote:
Ayes: Committee Members Galimba, Inaba,
Kagiwada, Kierkiewicz, Kimball, Onishi,
Villegas, and Acting Chair Hustace — 8.
Notes: None.
Absent: Committee Member Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder —1.
Excused: None.
Mr. Alameda provided a brief narrative of the nominee's background
and experience. Committee Members spoke in favor of the appointment.
ACTING CHR. HUSTACE: Okay. Thank you Ms. Lavea-Malloe, appreciate
you stepping forward, volunteering for your community and representing the
Hamakua district on the CDP, and we look forward to seeing you in Council.
And with that as our only item on the agenda, we are adjourned at 9:09 a.m.
