HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 414 Draft 01 2024-2026COUNTY OF HAWAI`I STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 414 25 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE PALACE THEATER FOR THE 6TH ANNUAL "TIS THE SEASON — A WALK THROUGH CHRISTMAS TOWN" EVENT. WHEREAS, Friends of the Palace Theater is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that seeks to revitalize, restore, and sustain the historic Palace Theater as a venue that will educate, entertain, and inspire our diverse community; and WHEREAS, Friends of the Palace Theater is requesting funds for keiki activity supplies and event insurance, which will serve a public purpose by benefiting, improving, and promoting the interests of culture and the arts; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that, in accordance with section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 are hereby transferred to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to Friends of the Palace Theater for the expenses and purposes identified in "Exhibit A," a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, in the following amount as set forth below: FUND: General AMOUNT OF APPROPRIATION: $1,295 OUT AND FROM: 1010-11-10191 Clerk -Council SVC — Contingency Relief $1,295 CREDITED TO 1010-21-25139 Department of Liquor Control $1,295 Public Programs 530115 Misc. The 6th Annual "Tis the Season — A Walk Through Christmas Town" is a free holiday community event held on December 20, 2025, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Edith Kanaka'ole Multi -Purpose Stadium. This festive, family - friendly celebration transforms the stadium grounds into a vibrant Christmas town featuring light -up displays, live entertainment, food vendors, keiki games, and treats for every family. The event brings together local businesses, organizations, and volunteers to create an evening of joy, cultural connection, and holiday spirit for the Hilo community. Families are invited to stroll through illuminated displays, enjoy live performances, support local food vendors, and participate in activities for children of all ages. "Tis the Season" aims to foster community engagement, celebrate the arts, and provide safe, high -quality holiday entertainment accessible to everyone. *44. 501(c)(3) Mission Statement To revitalize, restore, and sustain the historic Palace Theater as a venue that will educate, entertain, and inspire our diverse community. *45.
